Cons Price, Not very smooth, Video and exercises get mixed reviews, No preacher biceps curl, Long (two person) assembly, Large and bulky, Does not fold up easily. Product Overview The Max Strength System is the entry level (economy) machine of the Weider home gym line. It is often compared to the Bowflex Power Rod gyms due to its design and use of flexible bars and cables to create resistance. The earlier versions of the Max Strength System were known as the Weider Crossbow, the Crossbar and the Advantage. This unit is an extremely popular economy home gym. If you are on a tight budget, the Max Strength System will provide you with the ability to perform a full body workout without breaking the bank. User reviews vary wildly, but the common theme is that While the price is attractive, the quality of construction is not as good as other brands. A common complaint of the Max Strength System is that does not offer the same smooth, even movement that you might get come to expect from weight stack machines or even the Bowflex units. So be aware that while you can get an effective workout with the Max Strength System, it may take some getting used to. The other main advantage (other the affordability) is the compact nature of this system. You will not need a very large workout area with the Max Strength System as it has a footprint of approximately 6'8" L X 5'4" W X 6'6" H. It also folds up to about 2' X 2' making it easy to store if you are limited for space (although we have heard some complaints that this unit does not fold up that easily). The bottom line on this Weider home gym is that while it may not have the same craftsmanship and quality of some other home gyms, it is one of the better machines that you can get for under $600. So if you are on a budget, this economy home gym will do the trick. However, if you are looking for better quality and performance you will need to spend much more than the $599 it would cost you for The Max Strength System.
